ASN Biography
Seferiana Day was diagnosed with Primary Membranous Nephropathy and Stage 1 chronic kidney disease in 2016. She gained partial remission after many years of treatment, but permanent scarring has progressed to Stage 4 CKD, and a transplant is on the horizon. Seferiana has channeled the uncertainty of her disease into advocacy as a volunteer with NephCure. She shares her story to empower other patients, educates medical professionals and policymakers on the realities of kidney disease, and actively engages with the FDA, pharmaceutical companies, and Congress, including lobbying for the New Era Act. Ms. Day brings a wealth of professional expertise in advocacy and social work to KHI PFPC. She serves as Communications Director for the City of Seattle’s Office of Planning and Community Development and teaches at the University of Washington School of Social Work. She is a member of the Washington State Leadership Board, where she advances equity-focused leadership programs. For the past decade, she has consulted on numerous political campaigns, served as staff for local elected officials, and organized labor unions to raise the minimum wage. Seferiana holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington and dual bachelor’s degrees in Women’s Studies and Sociology from Seattle University. In 2021, she was named one of the “100 Most Influential Seattleites” and to the 2022 class of “40 Under 40” by the American Association of Political Consultants. Seferiana lives in Seattle with her partner Kreg and can often be found walking along Alki Beach with her husky pup Frida, taking in a beautiful sunset.
