Alain Romero, PharmD, PhD

ASN Biography
Alain is currently Senior Vice President of L-GBT Medical Affairs at Pfizer. He has over 30 years of experience in clinical research, medical affairs and business development. He has led clinical programs across a wide range of therapeutic areas including drug delivery, anti-infectives, neuroscience, oncology, cardio-renal and pulmonary medicine, resulting in the successful filing and launch of several innovative new medicines changing people lives. Before leading medical affairs at GBT, he was at ChinookTx and Vifor Pharma where he focused on nephrology and orphan diseases. At Actelion where he was Vice President of Medical Affairs he launched Macitentan for pulmonary arterial hypertension. Previously, Alain had spent 18 years at Pfizer where we worked in early clinical research, on licensing to late stage development assets, domestically and internationally before transitioning to medical affairs for pain and inflammation. Prior to joining the Biotech/Pharma industry, Dr. Romero practiced at Rennes Teaching Hospital, was a research fellow at Ciba-Geigy and served as a consultant for several companies and on FDA mandated audits. He was an adjunct professor of medicine at the University of Rennes and the Miller Medical school in Miami. Alain graduated from the University of Rennes School of Medicine and Pharmacy, and obtained a PhD in biomedical and phamaceutical medicine science from the University of Rhode Island.
