Professor Jorge Cerda, MD, MS, FACP, FASN
Prof. Cerda was born and raised in Uruguay, and currently resides and works as a nephrologist in Albany, New York, and is Chief of Medicine, St Peter's Hospital Health Partners and Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Albany Medical College.
Prof. Cerda is a past- Associate Director of the 0by25 ISN Initiative, working to understand, design, and implement worldwide acute kidney care initiatives in developing countries.
He is currently Advisor of the ISN Advocacy Working Group, and continues to work to promote universal health care, equitable opportunities and non-discrimination, focusing on low- and middle-income countries' needs and the promotion and implementation of UN/WHO's Sustainable Development Goals.
Prof. Cerda is past Chair of the AKI!Now Initiative of the American Society of Nephrology, where he leads a wide-encompassing program to promote collaborative education and development of early AKI recognition, treatment and recovery. He his a member of the Steering Committee of the Kidney Health Initiative, promoting ethical interaction between ASN, the FDA and Industry.
Dr Cerda has published more than 100 original manuscripts, authored or co-authored books and actively participates in national and international meetings discussing the diagnosis, management and recovery from acute kidney injury. He is a member of the Organizing Committee of the yearly AKI and CRRT Meeting under the auspices of UCSD.
