Robert M. Perkins, MD, MPH
In my current role as Vice President of the US Cardiorenal team at Bayer, I lead a team of medical directors and field team members working to advance the care of patients with kidney disease. A major current area of focus for us is large-scale Implementation Science Programs in collaboration with healthcare systems to support guideline-directed medical therapy for diabetic kidney disease.
Prior to joining Bayer, I held leadership roles with Novartis and AstraZeneca focused on rare kidney diseases and anemia of chronic kidney disease, respectively. Prior clinical and research work included outcomes research lead roles at Geisinger Health System, nine years as an active duty physician in the US Army, including as Assistant Chief of the Trauma ICU with the 10th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad, Iraq, and Chief of Nephrology at Madigan Army Medical Center.
I obtained my M.D. at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, a Masters of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Harvard University. I am a fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Society of Nephrology, a member of the International Society of Nephrology, a member of the National Kidney Foundation, and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
