A Kidney Health Initiative working group developed data standards for ESKD that support consistency in research studies across settings and countries. These were designed to be concise documents rather than detailed specifications. The data standards should be viewed as a starting point for researchers. The actual approach may be influenced by specific logistical and research considerations.
